DAYARA BUGYAL

Dayara Bugyal, also known as Uttarakhand’s winter wonderland, is one of the most beautiful meadows in India with heavenly views of Bhagirathi, Bandarpoonch, The Black Peak and other greater Himalayas in this range. It is known not just for its luscious green meadows and gorgeous wild flowers, but also for the butter milk Holi that is celebrated here. This event, commonly known as ‘Anduri Utsav,’ is celebrated by both locals and visitors. Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) is in charge of the arrangements. During this occasion, butter and milk are spread on top of one other. There is also a traditional ‘Raso’ dance performed. It is so lovely that one cannot refrain from joining in and enjoying the local culture.

During the winter, the area is blanketed with snow, providing trekkers with a breath-taking vista. This spot is incredibly wonderful, with a wide area to traverse and a distinct perspective from every viewpoint. Its vegetation and animals are unique and cannot be found anywhere else.

Dayara Bugyal Trek- (4days/3nights) Easy to Moderate

Day 1- Drive from Dehradun to Barsu, stay overnight

Day 2- Trek from Barsu to Barnala, stay overnight in camps

Day 3- Trek to Dayara Bugyal, sightseeing, trek back to Barnala, stay overnight

Day 4- Trek back to Barsu, drive back to Dehradun

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Barsu from Dehradun

On the first day of this trek, we will be leaving from Dehradun at 7:00 AM to cover a distance of 190 kms and reach Barsu. The journey would be of 6-7 hours. Barsu is a village situated in Uttarkashi district. Barsu is also the starting of the Dyara Bugyal trek.even though it’s a small scenic hamlet; it is mostly the base camp of the trek. There are a few sightseeing options here in Barsu village. 

After reaching Barsu, we shall stay there for the night. Dinner would be served at the stay which would be followed by some bonfire and music session for the team to get acquainted with each other. 

Day 2: Trek from Barsu to Barnala

The trek from Barsu to Barnala is considered to be an easy one. The trek takes a total of almost 3-4 hours and covers some easy ascents.

The Barnala campsite offers an amazing view of the Gangotri ranges and it only gets better from here as the snow-covered hill seems right in front. We shall have refreshments here and after resting for a while will trek to Barnala tal. You can reach the lake in about 30 mins and this place offers amazing views of snow covered meadows. After a while we shall descend back to the campsite while watching a beautiful sunset. Dinner will be served at the campsite and we will be enjoying some amazing bonfire and music session post dinner. 

Day 3- Trek to Dayara Bugyal, sightseeing, trek back to Barnala

After breakfast, we will begin our journey to the meadows and the excursion’s highlight, Dayara Bugyal. The natural and raw splendor of the area will astound you. We’ll trek directly into the Bugyal after a few tough ascents. 

The trek would be accompanied by a strikingly beautiful sunset and the natural beauty of this place is second to none. The sunset here is a sight that leaves everyone spellbound. All the tiredness wears away when one sees the awe-striking view of the mountains. Once you reach the summit, you’ll be dumbstruck by the bird’s eye view of the biggest meadow in India. 

After spending about half an hour at the summit and relaxing we will descend down towards our camps in Barnala. It takes about 45 minutes to hike back down. Dinner will be served at the campsite and everyone can just sit and relax and reminisce about the beautiful trek. 

Day 4- Trek back to Barsu, drive back to Dehradun

A wake-up call for the last day would be around 8 AM. After having breakfast, we shall commence our trek for Barsu and descend downwards. It would take about 3 hours to reach Barsu. And one can relax and freshen up here before we leave for Dehradun.
